1.) You've gone to the movies with your friends and offered to buy your four friends and yourself popcorn and a drink. The total with tax for each drink is $2.73 and the total for each bag of popcorn is $3.19

Estimate how much money you need to have in order to buy all of the popcorn and drinks.

Answer:
estimate $2.73 = $3.00
estimate $3.19 = $3.00
times $3.00 ( $2.73 ) into 5
3x5 = 15
times $3.00 ( $3.19 ) into 5
3x5 = 15
add 15 into 15
15+15 = 30

You will need $30.00 to buy a popcorn and a drink to your friend and for you.

There is one problem with your rounding. If you were to just purchase popcorn and you brought $18.00 with you ($3.00 x 6) would you have enough money?
